Gana-pati who is the chief of all ganas and that is why he is also known as vignaharta and vignakarta; the one who removes obstacles and the one who gives obstacles.  He is verily the Shakti herself and thus, he is as equal to amba chandika in blessing one with the fortunes and helping one to get rid of all kinds of troubles. One who thinks of this swamy before going to sleep at night will get no bad dreams; such is the mahattva of this swamy in getting rid of supernatural influences on our life as well.

On every chaturthi (both Shuklapaksha & Krshnapaksha), Vishesha Ganapati Puja will happen to ensure the pacificiation of the effects of one's malefic planets and to get rid of every obstacle for the hassle-free comfort life.
